Frequently Asked Questions
Who should attend?
You. Your friends. Your family. Anyone who is interested in exploring their relationship with their body, with others, and/or with the world. Some class descriptions will include an intended target audience, but as a general rule, if you'd like to attend, you should.
Why should I attend?
What brought you to this website? The answer to that question, along with the question of, "Why should I attend?" is going to be different for everyone. If you'd like to speak with Elizabeth about it, feel free to contact her! Also, below are some links to resources about yoga in general, and the effects of yoga specifically.
Do I need any prior experience, or special equipment or clothing?
No! The only thing you need is a body. People of all physical abilities are welcome in all public classes; we all have the experience of living in a body, and that's the only experience you need to have! This practice of yoga is not about achievement of the postures- it's about getting into your body and connecting with your inner wisdom.
Comfortable clothing is recommended, and some people like to bring their own yoga mat or blanket. I have extra mats and some yoga props you may borrow too.
What's this going to be like?
Mostly it depends on what you would like it to be like. It can also depend on whether you're going to attend a class, a workshop, or a private session. Classes are usually 45 or 60 minutes, unless otherwise noted. A short welcome and contexting of the theme or practice will be followed by warm-up movement. Then, there'll be cueing so you may set an intention for your practice before moving into a series of postures/ yoga poses. After the poses, there will be a period of physical relaxation, then integration. Again, depending on if this is a class, workshop, or private session, you may have the opportunity to verbally share your experiences; this is always optional though. At all moments, you have the opportunity and the permission to make this experience your own, and to do whatever your body is asking for in that moment. The teacher will remain for a short time after the conclusion of class, for questions or brief discussion.
What is this going to cost me?
That, too, depends. An individual's first private session or group class is discounted by 50%; 5-session or 5-class packages are available for a discounted rate as well. A non-discounted single 60-minute private session is $80 and a group class is $15. See the Calendar page for more information on rates for workshops, and contact Elizabeth to inquire about "private" sessions for two people and sliding scale fees.
What should I do before the first class or private session?
Please fill out and return the intake form and waiver prior to your first class or private session. Other than that, just show up as you are!
