Awareness requires that we return to presence, and allow the the moment to be fully experienced through our physical senses (auditory, tactile, olfactory, kinesthetic, oral, visual, proprioceptively), energetic receptors, and by our spiritual or higher self. As adults, we tend to experience and perceive events emotionally and intellectually; developing a greater bodily awareness can help us to be more mindful and present in the current moment.
Befriending the Body is all about "getting into" your own body, the physical aspect of yourself. We tend so often to live and experience life through our mental lens. The practice of Therapeutic Yoga allows you to reconnect to your body and experience the physicality and tangible sensations that occur through movement, stillness, and every state in between.
